Ann Marie McSweeney Lynch Uses IRA Beneficiary Designation to Strengthen the Marymount Experience for Future Students

Ann Marie McSweeney Lynch

Ann Marie McSweeney Lynch ’61 knows her Marymount education helped propel her life and career forward along a rewarding path, taking her to the highest levels of public service. Now, by making the university a beneficiary of her IRA, Ann Marie is ensuring future Marymount students receive the same wonderful education that she enjoyed.

Ann Marie attended Marymount in Richmond from seventh grade through high school. When it came time to choose a college, she elected to continue her Marymount experience.

“Marymount is more than a school,” she says. “It is a chance to grow in many areas—community involvement, faith, academics, sports, and lasting friendships with students and faculty.”

A member of the Social Service Club while a student, Ann Marie has always sought to use her skills and knowledge to improve the world around her. By naming Marymount as a beneficiary of her IRA, her legacy of service will surely continue.

Ann Marie’s professional career took her to Washington D.C., where she served in the Reagan Administration as a member of the White House Office of Private Sector Initiatives and on the President’s transition team as he returned to private life in Los Angeles at the end of his two terms. With her planned gift, she hopes to not only help future students but to also support maintenance of the Chapel and the surrounding landscaping, ensuring it remains a “focal point of the campus.”

Speaking of her planned gift, Ann Marie says, “I made this gift out of gratitude for my education. I also want to support the continuation of a Marymount education for present and future students.”
