Converses Give Back with Charitable Remainder Trust to Support Marymount’s Future

Peter Converse

“Giving back is so fulfilling—you get so much when you give to others.” Peter and Susan Converse should know. They have given to the Marymount community for many years as generous donors to athletic facilities and student-athletes.

Arlington has always been very near and dear to their hearts. “We give to other organizations in the community, but we were really excited that we had a university in our own backyard we could support. The school is really on an upward trajectory, and we love the direction the school is headed in.”

A recent retiree, Peter worked in community banking for 40 years serving the last 20 as president and CEO of Arlington-based VA Commerce Bank. He became involved with Marymount when he retired and found himself with time on his hands, eager to become involved in something meaningful. “I didn’t attend Marymount, but I’m committed to the vision of the school. I appreciate the diversity of the student body, the Catholic underpinning, and the fact that it’s a full-service university.”

Peter and Susan’s commitment to Marymount is not only today’s vision but also tomorrow’s. They have chosen to give a charitable remainder annuity trust to Marymount. Peter describes his choice of gift as an intriguing way to give while still enjoying the benefit of the gift before it is conveyed.

Peter and Susan encourage others to support Marymount with similar commitments. “It’s a great time to take part in the progress of a great institution.”
